Romantik Parkhotel Wasserburg Anholt

My husband and I have enjoyed a long weekend at this hotel and recommend it highly. It’s a class act with castle period decor yet all of the modern conveniences. We started our weekend with a long walk through the extensive gardens that are kept in tip top shape. We had one evening and two breakfasts in the dining room. We are discriminating but can’t say enough about the delicious food and air of sophistication. Yet, we felt comfortable in our casual tourist clothing. The restaurant is all glass facing the gardens with swans, coots, doves and various other birds all around enjoying the canals surrounding the castle. We only wish we had known about this place earlier. It’s like finding a well kept secret. One last point…there is tremendous attention to details with fresh flowers everywhere and delicious homemade snacks and fruit in our room (gratis).

We visited the restaurant: Great location - romantic place, nice table view; we had a 5-course menu - 4 out of 5 were great, the main course was not our thing - it didn't match the whole menu. Service (waiting staff) was very friendly and very professional. Unfortunately for cleaning of the tables they use "roboters" which we didn't appreciate. Overall a good experience.

Nice castle hotel. The view during breakfast is indeed exceptional - you're just looking out onto the moat while eating. The breakfast is ok - they do combine buffet with a menu order. Staff are very helpful. The lobby is beautiful with an antique feel to it. So why only 4 stars - unfortunately while there a guest's car was broken into. They did leave stuff in the car so if you're here - empty your car before going in. Also the tv in the room is tiny (had forgotten such sizes exist 😁) but hey it's a romantic hotel so you should be doing something else.

Amazing location that just by itself makes to deserve nearly 4 stars. Excellent restaurant. Average breakfast thought. Rooms during summer hot days like the ones that we had are very warm (no airconditioning) while the small ventilator provided was basically rubish. Room was clean and tidy. Mattress was very average, springs. Reception personnel was corrrect. Finally, wifi signal was only strong enough next to the room's door. Overall highly recommended, but not in hot days.
